Q Overview Everything we do has a cause and effect. This week you will learn about the relationship, albeit complicated, between renewable energy and the materials needed to manufacture these technologies. Instructions • Read the article “Recycling Renewables”. • Find a "golden-line" to share and explain why you chose that golden line. • Based on the evidence(s) presented in the paper, which energy source do you think is the "cleanest" on the grand scheme? Explain. • How do you feel about the current global trend to reduce oil dependency? Explain. • Participate in a meaningful conversation with at least 2 of your peers.

1. Find a "golden-line" to share and explain why you chose that golden line. The golden-line from this article is: “Not only does Europe have about 70% of global installed photovoltaic capacity, but the European Union is also the only region in the world with a regulation – known as the WEEE directive – that has banned electronic products, including PV panels from being landfilled.” Although Europe does not have so many regions with a lot of sun (exception the south part) it has the vast majority of solar panels installed! It seems they thought very well about the legislation and how to manage waste! We should definitely take examples from them.
